With Making the Band 4 rising swiftly on the horizon of this season’s reality television shows, Diddy (a.k.a. P. Diddy; a.k.a. Puff Daddy; a.k.a. Puffy; a.k.a. Sean Combs, etc., you get the idea) has taken to the road — and that road includes Memphis — in his search for an all-male pop/soul supergroup.

Making the Band originally aired on ABC in 1999. It featured boy-band creator Lou Pearlman in his search to create another group as successful as his masterpieces N*Sync and the Backstreet Boys. The result was O-Town. Pre-teen girls everywhere were delighted.

The band never became as popular as Pearlman’s other powerhouses, but the shows ratings were high enough that second and third seasons were ordered for MTV. P. Diddy, as he was known then, was hired as the host. Making the Band 2 and 3 turned out hip-hop group Da Band and female supergroup Danity Kane.

Diddy’s casting tour for MTB4‘s all-male supergroup (as yet unnamed), began on January 17th. If you can “Sing, dance, and look hot,” you’re in luck. A panel of celebrity judges will be in Memphis next week (March 31st) at the Plush Club on Beale Street for tryouts.

For more information, check out the show’s MySpace page.

But before you get all excited and start practicing your high notes, make sure that you have a valid photo I.D. You must be at least 18 to expose yourself on national television.
