Late Halloween Extra: “The Face of Evil”

Phil Shipley

The ‘Face of Evil’ in France last month

A few weeks ago, I joined my friend David Pickler and several others for a whirlwind tour of Europe, starting in Munich, ending in Paris, and including numerous other goodies, many of them associated with the American military effort of World War Two.

On one of the long bus rides we took from place to place, an interesting anecdote was conveyed by David, a successful wealth adviser and paragon of the scouting movement who has also had a lengthy and distinguished career in public education, as longtime chairman of the old Shelby County School Board and president of the national School Board Association.

It was in connection with that phase of his multi-tasking career that David made a speech in Nevada recently on behalf of the American Public Education Foundation. It was there, too, that a wide-eyed attendee, one Dennis E. Rusk, leaped to the classic judgment he outlined below in an online post published later.

Before the Halloween weekend passes away, it — and Rusk’s astounding conclusion — are worth a look.

The picture that illustrates this piece — late at night at the castle of William the Conqueror in Normandy, I believe — was taken by our fellow traveler on the European trip, Scouting executive Phil Shipley, expressly to illustrate Mr. Rusk’s thesis, which may in fact find a share of believers, especially among those who see David’s quest for a special school district in outer Shelby County as the sole precipitating event of the school-merger crisis of 2010-2014.

For the record, that’s too pat and a serious exaggeration — but it’s downright sensible compared to the Rusk thesis. And, yes, yes, Mr. Rusk was serious. This is no tongue-in-cheek business!

Voila:

The Face of Evil
by Dennis E. Rusk

Under the pretense of honoring three WWII vets, one of whom is my 89
year old father, a Navy vet, I attended with him, this event last
Saturday evening at the Toyota Dealership. There I meet the face of
evil in America in the personification of David Pickler. Mr. Pickler’s
organization is the American Public Education Foundation and the
agenda is clear. Support the socialist agenda of the Public School
System, the SEIU, and block any effort to privatize public education.
Let me remind that the former President of the SEIU (teachers union)
stated that America needs to become a social state “by persuasion or
the point of a gun.” Mr. Pickler also spoke of revolution, income
inequality, unity over self, collectivism and the other talking points
of the far left progressives (American communists) that have wrestled
control of the Public School System. This agenda completes a number of
their goals specifically number 17 of the Communist Takeover of
America. It is in the Appendix of the book I wrote in 2007 titled
Death of American Architecture, published in 2012. How can the School
Boards negotiate with the SEIU when the SEIU finances the campaigns of
the School Board members?

I am a self taught man, the Public School System of fifty years ago
failed to fulfill my thirst for knowledge, so after cows were milked,
chores finished, I spent my time reading in the Public Libraries of
Sanborn and Lockport, New York. I am a self taught Architect
practicing individualistic and holistic (organic) architecture of
Jefferson, Richardson, Sullivan and Wright. It is the antithesis of
Progressive Architecture. Progressive Architecture promotes abstract
art, man made global warming, collaborative design, and minimalist
living. American Architecture promotes individualism, American
exceptionalism, design based upon the beauty and laws of nature, and
holistic lifestyle where you ascend to your best with your God given
talents, not succumb to the least for the common good. I too have be
effected by the malevolent of the Progressive Movement.

The American Public School System is a dismal failure, teachers
controlled by the agenda of the SEIU do not teach the three “R”,
history pre 1850 ( when Karl Marks publishes the Communist Manifesto)
is ignored, civics of our Constitution is considered outdated, and the
socialist agenda of governance is promoted. Little wonder when asked
the youth of America thinks that Socialism is good, however cannot
explain what it is or how it works. Private Schools and home schooling
is what is left.

What my father and the youth of 1940 fought and died for is being
swept away, and by the way, the honoring of him and the two WWII vets,
well they ran out of time because “Mr. Pickler spoke too long.” Sad
but true, not many opportunities left.

For the record, here was David’s response — fairly restrained and moderate, considering the powers undoubtedly possessed by the Prince of Darkness.

Mr. Rusk,

The greatness of America lay in the fact that, while I may passionately object to your opinions and speech, I embrace the freedom you have to express those words. I am very proud that those freedoms were paid in full by the sacrifice of the men and women who have defended our country and to those who fight to empower all the children of America to fulfill their potential and achieve their dreams. It is by both the pen and the sword that we remain strong and free.

David Pickler

Anyhow, happy Halloween! And props to David Pickler for having a sense of humor about all this.
