Last week, there was a joint meeting among officials of the Memphis City Schools, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, the Shelby County Public Defender’s Office, and the Shelby County Corrections Center. The various groups hoped to discover how they might improve their working relationships for a brighter tomorrow. Their stated goal: “seamless transitions.” So are they planning to con struct underground tunnels directly from our city schools to the jail, or what?
