Although Jo Anne Worley of Laugh-In fame is not in this production as she was in the traveling Broadway production, Nunsense ? the musical about five wacky nuns hosting a talent show ? opens at Circuit Playhouse tonight. And there are two art openings tonight: at Jay Etkin Gallery, for ?The Personal Elvis Presley,? photographs and collages by Jeff Scott; and at David Lusk Gallery, for ?The Price is Right?, featuring the works of some 30 of Memphis? finest artists. Tonight?s Orpheum Summer Movie Series feature is the classic Cool Hand Luke, starring Paul Newman in one of his best roles. I guess today officially kicks off Elvis Week with tonight?s Musical Tribute to Elvis back down at the Horseshoe Casino, with Ronnie McDowell and former Elvis band members DJ Fontana, Scotty Moore, and the Jordanaires. And here at home, back at the New Daisy it?s Saliva with Life, Stereomud, and Systematic. The Distraxshuns are at Patrick’s tonight and tomorrow night. And finally, if you?ve never been to the Orchid Club (formerly Beale?s End), you now have ample reason to go. Miss Sadie Ware, the undisputed Queen of Soul Food in Memphis, is now there cooking up her magic starting around 11 p.m. Trust me on this one.
