Smokey Joe’s CafÇ, the musical that celebrates rock and soul’s biggest hits from the 1950s and 1960s, opens tonight at Playhouse On the Square. There’s an opening reception at David Lusk Gallery for “The Price Is Right,” artworks for sale for under $1,000. The Memphis Redbirds play Nashville tonight at AutoZone Park. Down in Clarksdale, today kicks off the two-day Sunflower Blues and Gospel Festival with a lineup that includes Bobby Blue Bland, Charlie Musselwhite, Big Jack Johnson, and The Jackson Southernaires. If you go, by all means, have dinner at Madidi. Just a short drive away in Tunica, Loretta Lynn is at Sam’s Town. And here at home, The Reba Russell Band is at Patrick’s. Native Son is at the Blue Monkey. The Lost Sounds and Viva L’American Death Ray Music are at the Young Avenue Deli. And, as always, The Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge.
