There are many art openings tonight and they are at: David Mah Studio for Dark Town: Icons from 16 Years, works by H. Douglas Northern (great stuff); at Christian Brothers University for The Photography of Richard Reep ; Perry Nicole Fine Art for paintings by Sammy Peters and Fred Burton; and at David Lusk Gallery for The Third Time is Charm, works by Daisy Craddock and Patton Wilson. There s also a Charity Fund-Raiser Art Sale at Joysmith Gallery & Studio, with original paintings and pottery from South America, with proceeds benefiting the International Children s Heart Foundation. And if you feel like a taking a little road trip to see work by two of the greatest photographers of all time, head down to the Southside Gallery in Oxford for an opening reception for a show of photographs by William Christenberry and the incomparable William Eggleston. While you re there, check out the new Restaurant 208 at 208 S. Lamar. Fabulous. There s a Not Afraid of Fashion Show>Over the Rhine and Andy Grooms Living Room. As always, the Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge tonight. And tonight s biggest bash is the annual Hell on Earth Halloween bash, this year at the Premier Palace on Monroe and featuring, among many other wild activities, live music by Plywood Doghouse, The Bluff City Backsliders, Roger Houston, The Grown-Up Wrongs, The Limes, The Gabe & Amy Show, Satan s Sex Change, Chopper, Girl with Hunchoe, and The Preacher s Kids. Sounds like an all-nighter to me.
