OUCH!

Writing a travel article on Memphis for The New Zealand Herald, columnist Alan Young claims, “B.B. King played on Beale Street. So did Rufus Thomas, [and] Ike Turner. … But like the real blues those days are dead. Today Beale St. is a re-created row of bars interspersed with souvenir shops selling T-shirts, caps, T-shirts, posters, and T-shirts.” Young failed to note that one may also purchase sno-globes, glue-on sideburns, miniature cotton bales, and little silver spoons with “Memphis” on them, which provide Beale St. with a much-needed air of authenticity.
