We’ve been told by big media and high-ranking politicos that there is a culture war going on. It’s gays against straights and straights against gays in a no-holds-barred struggle over the right to mutual ownership of property under the law. But as the bombs burst and the dust swirls, a pair of heroes arises, hoping to bridge the vast cultural chasm between these two seemingly irreconcilable groups through the unlikely me di um of stand-up comedy. Mike Todd and Chris Walker of Stop 345 have posed for an ad on the back inside cover of Family (formerly Family & Friends), a periodical aimed at Memphis’ gay, lesbian, and transgendered community. The copy reads, “We’re not gay … but we’re queer for your business.”
