Our favorite society rag, Elite Memphis (now 901: Elite Memphis), is back with a brand-new name, a brand-new look, and a whole slate of brand-new columns, including one called Confessions, in which local movers and shakers answer deeply philosophical questions about life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. In this issue, 901 wanted to find out why people s lives sometimes don t turn out as planned. Brian Carter, communications specialist for the Memphis Zoo, answered, You have to look at life from the water in the glass analogy … [not] from a glass half empty stance. … You either need to be happy with the water you do have in your glass, or throw it out entirely and try to fill it with something else.
