Uh Oh: Feds May Be Looking at Rep. Mike Kernell’s Son in Palin Email Hacking

David Kernell, the 20-year-old son of Memphis state Representative Mike Kernell, a longtime Democratic legislator, is reported to be the subject of a federal investigation into the hacking of an email account belonging to Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Rep. Kernell himself has apparently denied a Nashville newspaper’s account that he himself had corroborated the report.

David Kernell, the 20-year-old son of Memphis state Representative Mike Kernell, a longtime Democratic legislator, is rumored to be the subject of a federal investigation into the hacking of an email account belonging to Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

A variety of sources seemed to corroborate that information, but an earlier report in The Tennessean newspaper of Nashville that Rep. Kernell himself had provided corroboration of federal authorities’ interest in his son, a University of Tennessee student, has apparently been denied by the legislator.

A local FBI source has ackowledged being in contact with the Anchorage office of the FBI about the incident.

News of the hacking raced around the Internet on Thursday, though such portions of the pirated emails as have been published seem lacking in political consequence.
