Last May’s big floods put the Tunica casinos out of business for around three weeks. They recovered and reopened quickly, thanks primarily to the fact that the casinos actually float. But one facility wasn’t reclaimed until this week: the Willows Sporting Clays and Hunting Center.
Tuesday marked the grand opening of the new Willows. “The Willows brings the outdoors of the Mississippi Delta to the thousands of visitors to our area each year in a safe and controlled environment that is truly a one-of-a-kind attraction,” said Webster Franklin, president and CEO, Tunica Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) will be the first group to enjoy the Willows. POMA is expecting more than 200 outdoor media and traditional outdoor sports industry professionals to attend its annual business conference, Aug. 1 – 4, which includes several events at Willows.
That’s called reopening with a bang.
