Here are a couple cookbooks that earn the shelf space. Proceeds from the sales of each go to worthy charities.

For the sports fanatic/cook, it’s Griese Spoon Cookbook, recipes collected by pro footballer Bob Griese and wife Shay from some particularly gifted friends. Drew Brees offers his white bean chili recipes; Mike Ditka his Tailgater’s pork chops; Roger Staubach chicken pot pie; and on and on.
The book was produced by local publisher Wimmer Cookbooks. (Read more about Wimmer’s fascinating history here.)
Proceeds from the book go to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida and the Colorado-based Judi’s House, which serves grieving children and their families.
Griese Spoon is available at local book stores and amazon.com.

Southern Living Cooking for Christmas includes some 275 recipes that cover holiday fare from edible gifts to festive colorful desserts.
The book is $10 and being sold at Dillard’s. Proceeds from the book go to the local Ronald McDonald House.
