• The heritage-breed pig-boosting Cochon 555 has announced its 2013 tour schedule.
Memphis will not be included in the main Cochon 555 tour as it was last year, but will be the site once again of the Heritage BBQ event Labor Day weekend.
• Included in Best Food Writing 2012 compilation is this Garden & Gun story by Wright Thompson, “Memphis in May: Pork-palooza.”
The story follows the highly pedigreed Fatback Collective during its first year competing in the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest.
For the record, I found the notion of the team “fixing” the barbecue contest and Thompson’s tone fairly obnoxious.
