A Visit to the Cake Gallery Baketique

photo-239.JPG

The Cake Gallery Baketique, just east of the Brass Door on Madison downtown, opened on Valentine’s Day — an adorable opening date for an adorable place.

The Cake Gallery is a bit of hybrid. There are indeed cakes inside, as well as cookies, pies, cupcakes, and cake truffles. They also sell pillows, artworks, and jewelry.

Flavors for the cakes, cupcakes, etc., vary by the day. Included in the line up are strawberry, coconut, lemon pound cake, and red velvet.

Customers can have a slice of cake ($1.49-$4.99) or order a full cake. They offer full pies ($14.99) and mini-pies ($4) too.

Now, I did as the sign said, and got a bag of peanut butter cookies ($5 for 10).

The Cake Gallery also sells what they boast as the “best” chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal raisin cookies. But I like a good peanut butter cookie — and this one couldn’t have been better.

The Cake Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
