Will Batts will leave his post as executive director of OUTMemphis, according to the group’s blog.

Batts has served in the role for 10 years and was the group’s first executive director. When he started, the organization was called the Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center. The name changed to OUTMemphis in 2016.

He said in Thursday’s blog post that OUTMemphis ”has been more than a job to me; it’s been my identity.”

”I am proud of what OUTMemphis has accomplished in the last 13 years, growing from one employee to (soon) 10, expanding our services and our impact in the region, and being on the verge of opening an emergency shelter for LGBTQ young people experiencing homelessness,” Batts said.

Batts say the moves comes as his husband took a new job out of town. Batts’ last day will be in July.
