Cheesecake Factory Pulls Building Permit

The Cheesecake Factory is coming to Memphis.

The company pulled a $4.18 million building permit for its first Memphis location at Wolfchase Galleria at 2760 North Germantown Parkway.

Hints of the popular restaurant’s entry to Memphis have come recently, even in Memphis Mayor A C Wharton’s State of the City speech back in January.

“One of these days, and I say this to my daughter-in-law, we will get a Cheesecake Factory,” Wharton said during his speech. “These days, especially with the millennials, you ain’t done nothing until you get a Cheesecake Factory.”

So far, The Cheesecake Factory only has three Tennessee locations, two in Nashville and one in Knoxville. Birmingham, Ala. has a restaurant location. St. Louis has two.

The first Cheesecake Factory opened in Beverly Hills, Calif. in 1978. There are more than 200 locations around the world.

The Cheesecake Factory is known for its large menu and large portion sizes. It’s also known for its cheesecakes and desserts, of which more than 50 are offered on the menu.

Revised: An earlier version of this story was incorrect. It said the restaurant would be located across the street from Wolfchase Galleria. It will, in fact, be at Wolfchase. The story has also been updated to note that there is a Cheesecake Factory location in Knoxville.
