The Flyer has hired writer and filmmaker Chris McCoy as its new Film & TV editor. He replaces Greg Akers, who is leaving the Flyer this week.
McCoy is a Memphis-based filmmaker, writer, social media consultant, and musician. He has written and directed three feature films: the mockumentary Automusik Can Do No Wrong (2004), the restaurant comedy Eat (2006), and the Memphis music documentary Antenna (2012).
From 2002-2008, he was senior editor of At Home Tennessee magazine, and then coordinated coverage of Memphis music, art, film, and culture as Web Editor for “Live From Memphis” from 2009-2013. As a freelancer, his writing has appeared in the Flyer since 2004, as well as such publications as Memphis Magazine, Number, The Memphis Daily News, and many others. He can also be seen playing bass with the horror metal band Super Witch, who are currently completing their first full length album.
