The specific context here is not as important as the general one, which seems to have been an attempt by Republicans on the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday to shift that committee’s inquiry from a matter of Russia’s interference in an American election to some putative policy misdeeds by Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State or to President Obama’s involvement in her presidential campaign.
