Coronavirus Cases Rise Slightly Saturday, Positivity Rate Remains Below Average

The rate of positive coronavirus from testing rose slightly in Shelby County from Friday to Saturday. New numbers from the Shelby County Health Department showed 72 new cases of the virus from 1,634 tests given yesterday. That put the county’s positivity rating for Saturday at around 4.4 percent, up from Friday’s rate of 2.7 percent. The county has averaged a positivity rate of 7.3 percent since the virus arrived here in March.

Two new deaths were recorded Thursday. So far, 82 have died here from the virus.
