The most unusual explanation for why Tennessees highly favored Melinda Doolittle was eliminated in this weeks penultimate voting results on American Idol is this one (signed “Anonymous”)from a Newsday blog on the subject. The respondent blames not the 60 million TV viewers who voted but Governor Phil Bredesen?
Anonymous: “I blame Melinda’s shocking lose on the governor of the honorable state of Tennessee. Why wasn’t the mayor from Melinda’s hometown or Nashville there to greet her and root her on. Who did we see some Tennessee Governor who looked liked he wanted free publicity. That alone was a big turn off.
“As far as Tennessee politics go, I can’t stand it. VP Al Gore’s homestate voted against him in the 2000 Presidential election and cost him the presidency. So what do I see on TV standing next to Melinda? A governor who is probably interested in running for another office. No fear, however, about Melinda’s career. She has enough talent to take her to the heights of a singing career.
