The Elvis record New York: RCA Studio 1: The Complete Sessions, set to be released in England in February, has been shelved over copyright concerns.
At issue is whether some of the material on the record is part of the public domain.
According to a report in Reuters UK, music distributor Cargo Records put the project on hold after receiving a letter of “warning” from Sony BMG.
The record includes songs such as “Lawdy Miss Clawdy” and “Hound Dog.” Some of the recordings were released more than 50 years ago, which puts them in the public domain in the UK.
