Last week, Harold Ford Jr. baffled the reasonably literate readers of The Huffington Post Web site with a somewhat confusing and seemingly contradictory editorial about the funeral of Coretta Scott King. Like all believers in the power of nonviolence to achieve social change and justice, I mourned the loss of Coretta Scott King, Ford wrote. He continued, Funerals should not be ceremonies to fabricate a lifes works. They are a time to celebrate with honesty and dignity a womans life. Were not entirely sure what fabrication he was referring to, but we are sure that Ford a congressman who voted for the war with Iraq called himself a believer in nonviolence.
