Kustoff

“Today, on the 16th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we remember the thousands of lives that were taken in the devastating attacks on our nation,” said Kustoff.

“While it was one of our country’s darkest days, we saw the light of the American spirit shine the brightest. Heroic first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers and civilians made the ultimate sacrifice to save others.

As Americans unite in honoring the lives we lost, we also give thanks to the brave men and women who continue to serve in our armed forces and protect us from future threats. Their tremendous sacrifice allows America to be the greatest country in the world.”

WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today released the following statement on the 16th anniversary of the deadly terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001:

“September 11th is a time for each of us to reflect on the horrific terrorist attacks that occurred 16 years ago today.

We also remember the victims who tragically lost their lives, as well as the heroism of firefighters, policemen and other first responders who risked their lives on September 11 and the subsequent days, weeks and months at Ground Zero and the Pentagon.

Memphians in particular should remember Memphis-native Gary Lasko and keep his family in their thoughts. Gary died in the collapse of the first World Trade Center building.

As we continue the fight against terrorism, including Al-Qaeda and ISIS, we must remain ever-vigilant to help ensure that a tragedy like September 11, 2001 is never repeated.”
