STEP RIGHT UP!
A week or two ago WPTY anchor Cameron Harper called someone a “chump” and a “fool” on the air and then blogged about his outraged colleagues claiming, “They’re in a snit with sphincters so tight you couldn’t pull a pencil out of their ____ with a pair of vise-grips.” He has yet to apologize to his fellow broadcasters, although he did admit on his blog that some of his
previous comments were, “A little harsh …probably.” In that same unapologetic paragraph Harper went on to say, “There’s a reason we’re [WPTY] the fastest growing newscast in the market and it’s because we don’t look, think, or act like the other guys and we never will.” And, as we all know, nobody can resist a good, old-fashioned freak show — except that, alas, this particular freak show is having a hard time escaping dead last in the local ratings.
