Art-opening receptions at: David Lusk Gallery for an exhibit of works by Libby Johnson and Janice Albertine; Lisa Kurts Gallery for “Inspired By Opera,” watercolors by Gary Bukovnik; Delta Axis @ Marshall Arts for work by Dwayne Butcher and Don Estes; ArtFarm Gallery of Fine Art for “Pieces Of Eight”; Christian Brothers University Gallery for “Artists’ Response: 9-11” and “American Art Pottery”; Albers Fine Art Gallery for landscape paintings by Linda Disney; and Perry Nicole Fine Art for work by Elizabeth Alley. At Circuit Playhouse, it’s opening night of Anton In Show Business, the story of three struggling actresses who find themselves in Texas performing in Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters. Later, at TheatreWorks, it’s the last-Friday-of-the-month midnight show Freak Engine, featuring improv comedy, dance, music, performance art, and “torturous human experiments.” If you want to have a lovely, memorable time, go have drinks in the lounge at Cielo tonight and listen to the lovely voice and tinkling of the ivories by the ever-beautiful Di Anne Price. And, as always, The Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge.
