Many more art openings this evening. They are at: Memphis College of Art, where it s actually a closing reception for a BFA/MFA exhibit; Lisa Kurts Gallery for a holiday group exhibit; Midtown Galleries for a show of works by Kevin Mitchell; Midtown Artist Market for their annual holiday show (moved this year from Overton Square to Madison and Idlewild; David Lusk Gallery for an exhibit of works by Marie Najera and for Holiday, new works by gallery artists; and at Studio 4881, Stark Pottery, and Eads Pottery, where all three galleries are hosting a Progressive Art Show, an open studio weekend of art and pottery hosted by artisans Deborah Fagan Carpenter, Agnes Stark, and Ellen Boehm. On the stage tonight, New Clothes for the Emperor opens at Morgan Woods Theatre; A Christmas Carol,/b> opens at Theatre Memphis; and this weekend s production of What I Did Last Summer opens at Christian Brothers University. Absylom Rising is at the Flying Saucer tonight. Zach Myers, Dis-Missle, Every Passing Second, Hector, and Pith are at the New Daisy. And I wish I could say that, as always, the Chris Scott Band is at Poplar Lounge, but Scott has had a bad accident and looks to be out of commission for a while. Not sure if the band is going to play without him, but everyone hang in there and, Chris, we are thinking of you.
