GOP Candidate Among Bush Critics

President Bush arrived in Memphis on Wednesday for a luncheon fundraiser on behalf of Republican senatorial candidate Bob Corker and drew protests — mostly from Democrats. But 9th District Republican candidate Mark White was also critical, noting that he had asked the president to tour Memphis’ inner city with him and got no reply. “Why he will not follow me there is beyond me,” said White, whose campaign manager, Howie Morgan, acknowledged that some Republicans might be offended by the statement, which, however, “speaks for itself.”
