According to an article in the Arizona Republic, Phoenix Suns Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin has turned down an offer to become general manager of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Griffin has decided to stay with Phoenix and not to join Suns assistant coach Marc Iavaroni, who was hired as the Grizzlies coach on Thursday.

From the story: “I was really impressed with Mr. Heisley, Mr. (Stan) Meadows (Heisley’s attorney), Jerry West and everybody I dealt with from their organization and you know I’m a big, big believer in Marc,” Griffin said. “It came down to some unfinished business (with winning a title in Phoenix). In order to leave that, it had to be the exact right situation and this isn’t the right one. It’s a tremendous opportunity and somebody can be successful there.”
