Harold Ford Sr. on the Stump

As U.S. Rep. Harold Ford Jr. keeps running hard, in the final weeks of his race for the U.S. Senate, his father, former congressman Harold Ford Sr., regularly hits the road for him. “He tells me, Dad, go here, go there, and I do it,” says the “proud papa.”

Ford the Elder also says some much more controversial things — about religion (“Memphis is a Christian city”), his son Jake (whom he oddly called “Jake Jr.”), and Jake’s opponent, Steve Cohen (“This man that’s running against Jake wants some sex shops running in downtown Memphis on a Sunday!”). For a transcript of a recent speech by the senior Ford, go to “Political Beat.”
