The entire Tennessee House accidentally sponsored a resolution honoring #takeemdown901 leader, Tami Sawyer, according to the Nashville Scene.
Here’s what the resolution, which was passed with a 97 to 0 vote late last month, says:
“WHEREAS, Tami Sawyer is the director of Diversity and Cultural Competence with Teach for America Memphis and a writer, speaker, and social justice and education advocate; she is a leader in Movement for Black Lives in Memphis and a TEDx speaker and has been featured in numerous local and national publications; and
WHEREAS, in 2017, Ms. Sawyer organized #takeemdown901, the successful movement to remove Confederate statues from Memphis’s public parks”
