Thomas Boggs, the man who took a midtown bar named Huey’s and turned it into a Memphis institution with seven locations, passed away at his home Sunday night. He was 63.
Boggs was a pillar of the Memphis restaurant community, having served as president of the Memphis Restaurant Association. He was also a partner in Folk’s Folly, the Half Shell, and Tsunami. He was awarded the MRA’s Civic and Community Leadership award in 2007.
In his early years, Boggs was a musician, including a stint with the seminal Memphis group, the Boxtops. He leaves his wife, Wight Boggs, daughters Lauren Boggs McHugh, Ashley Boggs Williams, and Samantha Boggs Dean, and sons Alexander Boggs and Fulton Boggs.
