JT on SNL: Thursday Preview

(Justin Timberlake is hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend — the third time he has done so. In anticipation, Sing All Kinds is looking back on his memorable past SNL performances.)

Up today on the JT/SNL merry-go-round is a recurring role he’s had on the show, playing Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees. Supporting former SNL regular Jimmy Fallon as Barry Gibb, Timberlake plays the relative straight-man. The skit’s premise is the fictional “The Barry Gibb Talk Show,” in which Barry’s vocal histrionics (and sometimes Robin’s monosyllabic conversations) are juxtaposed with other celebs.

The clip (after the jump) highlights both the greatness and shortcomings of the Internet. Granted, I’m able to go online and, in five minutes, find half a dozen JT on SNL clips. But, unfortunately, they’re not necessarily the ones I want to find. This episode of “The Barry Gibb Talk Show” is funny enough, but I remember past ones that worked much better. Can’t find ’em on the Internet, though.

NBC has a lockdown on which clips they want out there. I’ll begrudgingly admit it’s a sensible policy, but dangit, I can’t find some of the great clips I remember, such as the Timberlake/Target Lady skit, him goofing on Ashton Kutcher, or when he sings with Kermit the Frog. Oh well.
