Voices of the South’s second annual Children’s Theater Festival gets underway tonight at 7 p.m. at Rhodes College with a pajama party and a performance of Eric Slangerup’s Dirt Boy. A bedtime story will be read by the author and milk and cookies are on the menu.

On Saturday starting at 10 a.m. Voices of the South will join with Theatre Memphis’ ShoWagon troupe and the incredible Wood & String Theatre for a full day of kidcentric workshops and performances.

Adults may also be interested in taking in performances by Wood & String, who use beautifully made puppets representing traditions from around the world.
