After more than 16 years serving Memphis diners, Lulu Grille is closing its doors. “I love what I do,” says Leigh McLean, who opened the East Memphis restaurant with her former husband Don in 1991.
“Financial reasons are causing me to close,” she adds. Lulu Grille’s last day serving lunch and dinner will be Thursday, August 30th.
According to McLean, longtime chef Scott deLarme “will continue cheffing, and who knows maybe we’ll wind up working together again somewhere.” Right now, she says, “it’s just very hard for everybody.”
Moving into the site at 565 Erinway at Poplar will be Ciao Bella, currently located at 552 South Mendenhall. That move will likely take place in October.
