The 31-year-old suspect in a domestic violence situation that led to a police standoff in Midtown’s Vollintine-Evergreen neighborhood this morning has been shot and killed by police.
Police responded to a home at 729 North Auburndale after a man said his son was armed and fired a shot inside the home. The son, who was allegedly drunk and has a history of mental illness, was sitting on the porch, holding his revolver, when police arrived. He refused to put his gun down and surrender. Residents of the area were asked by police to remain inside their homes during the standoff. Some residents on Nextdoor said they began hearing yelling and shots from inside the house around 7 a.m.
