The Tiger men’s soccer team has been overshadowed somewhat by the undefeated women’s team, but today sophomore striker Mark Sherrod received some well-earned spotlight. Having broken the Memphis record for goals in a season with 19 (a figure that ranks second in the entire country), Sherrod was today named Conference USA Player of the Year. He also ranks second in the country with 42 points.
Sophomore midfielder Liam Collins joins Sherrod on the All-Conference first team. Collins is fourth in the country with 11 assists.
Junior defender J.J. Greer was named to the second team and goalkeeper Conor Hurley (six shutouts) made the third team.
Memphis (11-5-1) faces UCF Wednesday night in the opening round of the C-USA tournament in Tulsa.
