The Memphis Tigers defeated former CUSA rival UNC-Charlotte Saturday night at FedExForum, 67-58. Antonio Barton, who started at point guard, led Memphis with 16 points. His brother, Will (who played all 40 minutes), had his seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boards. Ferrakohn Hall led the Tigers in rebounding with 12.

Memphis had a balanced attack, with nine players scoring. The Tigers got 19 points from its depleted bench. Forward Wesley Witherspoon missed his second game with a knee injury, and former starting point guard Joe Jackson was not in the building because of what Coach Josh Pastner called “a personal matter.” There is speculation that Jackson is considering leaving the team.

The game itself was a sluggish back-and-forth affair, with neither team establishing a significant lead until the Tigers put together a late 13-2 run to seal the victory. The win moved Memphis to 8-5 on the year.
