Memphis in May Announces the End of Sunset Symphony

The sun is setting on the Sunset Symphony, the annual closing performance for the month-long Memphis In May (MIM) celebration.

The free orchestra performance in Tom Lee Park will end its 39 year run on Saturday, May 23rd with a grand finale celebration featuring the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, opera star Kallen Esperian, and solo artist Richard Todd Payne. The event will begin with an air show at 6 p.m. by the Commemorative Air Force and will end with an expanded fireworks finale.

Next year, Memphis In May will unveil plans for a new close-out event in conjunction with MIM’s 40th anniversary.

“The Memphis Symphony Orchestra deeply appreciates our partnership with Memphis in May over the years,” said Memphis Symphony Orchestra President and CEO Roland Valliere. “We look forward to a spectacular grand finale with many special elements that will take place during this May’s culminating performance.”
