Senior tailback Curtis Steele earned first-team all-conference honors today in voting by Conference USA coaches. Steele rushed for 1,239 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, the highest totals for Memphis in either category since DeAngelo Williams last suited up in 2005. He reeled off six 100-yard games (including a pair of 200-yard outbursts). Steele finished his two-year Tiger career ranked third in rushing (behind Williams and Dave Casinelli) with 2,462 yards. He was a second-team selection in 2008.

Another pair of seniors — receiver Duke Calhoun and punter Matt Reagan — were named second-team all-conference. For Calhoun, this is the second time (also in 2007) that he’s been so honored.
