The candidacy of former County Commissioner Steve Mulroy for District Attorney General in 2022 will become official at a Thursday afternoon press conference in which Mulroy will be backed by several ranking local Democrats — among them, Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris, former County Mayor Joe Ford, Criminal Court Clerk Heidi Kuhn, and former longtime state Representative Johnnie Turner.
Mulroy’s availability to run for the office as a Democrat to oppose Republican incumbent Amy Weirich was first revealed by the Flyer on Monday. The race will be Mulroy’s third, following two successful runs for the County Commission and a strong second-place finish in the Democratic primary for county mayor in 2014.
The press conference will be held at the IBEW Union Hall, 1870 Madison Avenue at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
