Music Video Monday: “Gondola Thread” by HEELS

HEELS! HEELS! HEELS!

HEELS, the Memphis punk/folk duo, has a new album, a new bass player, and a new music video — which is why we’re here, of course.

We Look Happy Here drops digitally this Friday, August 1st, the same day HEELS plays Skinny’s Birthday Jam at the Hi Tone with Risky Whispers and the Dead Soldiers.

Drummer/comedian/mensch Josh McLane and guitarist/vocalist Brennan Whalen recruited bassist Buddy Forbess to provide some much-needed low end to the new songs. (Yes, everyone needs a bass player, including you!)

The first single off the record is “Gondola Thread,” a typically rocking tune from the HEELS camp. The video marks McLane’s directorial debut, and was edited by Eric Huber. McLane says the video was “Shot on an insanely hot Sunday at an undisclosed location on the promise of a quick shoot and watermelon for all after. We got what we wanted — three dudes from Memphis having a good time, loudly.”
