This afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Wolfchase Barnes & Noble, Memphis physician and novelist Oakley Jordan will be signing copies of his new medical thriller set in Memphis, Death’s Parallel. Tonight kicks off the three-night performance of Graceland at CBU, a one-act play about two Elvis fans trying to be the first to get into Graceland. Today’s first Edgefest at Marshall and Madison is a big block party with an art show and sale and a play at ArtFarm Gallery of Fine Art; live music inside Kudzu’s and out by XRadio, Bystanders, Granola Shrapnel, Bob & Susie Salley, the Gabe & Amy Show, Papa Top’s West Coast Turnaround, and more. There’s a Wine Tasting at Fratelli’s this afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. with wines from France and South Africa provided by the Corkscrew. Back at the Lounge one more time, there’s a show by The Memphis Horns. There’s The 25th Anniversary Elvis Farewell Tribute at The Peabody. The Memphix DJs and The Bo-Keys are at the Hi-Tone. There’s the annual Dead Elvis Ball at the P&H with music by Jungle Room. And here are two not to miss. Choose your poison. At the New Daisy, it’s Extreme Chaos with Live Music and Midget Wrestling (this is making me very happy). And at Backstreet tonight, the special guest is none other than Ms. Shirley Q. Liquor, quite possibly the funniest person alive. If you’re in the know on Ms. Liquor, you already know that. If not, well, come see.
