There is one art opening this afternoon that I will mention; it’s at Durden Gallery for paintings by one the greatest artists ever to come out of Memphis, Marjorie Liebman. The Memphis Redbirds kick off a four-day run tonight at AutoZone Park against Omaha. The Midtown Rhythm & Blues Party (aka “The Architects Party”) tonight at Askew Nixon Ferguson Architects features Dr. Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster, Amy & The Tramps, and Ashley Wieronski, with proceeds benefiting the International Children’s Heart Foundation. FreeWorld is playing at the Flying Saucer tonight. Queen of country music Loretta Lynn is at Sam’s Town. And last but certainly not least, there’s a big Wrecked ‘Em Records CD-Release Dance Party tonight at Murphy’s, featuring the music of the Angel Sluts, the Drip, and Six String Jets. I am just happy to be able to say that Wrecked ‘Em has the Drip.
