I have but one word for tonight: Blondie. Yes, Deborah Harry and the gang are going to be at Horseshoe Casino, and if you haven’t heard them lately, you’re gonna be very happy. Elsewhere about town, tonight’s High Heels & Hard Hats Gala at the Memphis Cook Convention Center includes a sneak peek of the new Cannon Center For the Performing Arts. Today kicks off the two-day 26th Annual Choctaw Heritage Festival at Chucalissa, with traditional Native American dances, crafts, and food. The Gamble Brothers Band are at Blues City Café. There’s a Mose Vinson Birthday Party for the famed bluesman at the Center For Southern Folklore tonight. Eighties band Venus Mission are at the Bottom Line. The Burns Brothers are at the P&H Café. Back at the Lounge, there’s a very special show by Tha Movement featuring Native Son, Los Cantadores, Soul Project, and Toshia. And last but certainly not least, there’s a rare performance tonight at the Blue Monkey by longtime Memphis musicians Van Duren & Tommy Hoehn. Make that one.
