Music Video Monday: Bryan Hayes

Country comes to town in this week’s Music Video Monday.

Bryan Hayes’ new video highlights some familiar Memphis landmarks. Directed by Melissa Anderson Sweazy, “Farther Down The Line” features some excellent cinematography by Sarah Fleming of locations such as The Arcade, the Downtown skyline, and the Mississippi riverfront. Today marks the world premiere of this song by the Iraq War veteran, in which the singer ponders the present and future of America.

Memphis songwriter Bryan Hayes has a new album out today, called Farther down the Line. Most of the songs on this new album were written while Hayes was deployed in Iraq, and an article on Hayes can be found in this month’s National Guard Magazine, GX. He’s also donating all the proceeds from his single “I Wanna Run” to the Wounded Warrior Project. Bryan has a lot going on right now, and a full list of his upcoming shows can be found below, along with the video for “I Wanna Run.”

Music Video Monday (on Tuesday): Bryan Hayes

in this very special Tuesday edition of Music Video Monday, we have country artist Bryan Hayes with his new video for “I Wanna Run”.

Hayes says the song was written to help keep himself sane while he was in some trying circumstances. “There was a two-year window in 2009 and 2010 when I was deployed to Iraq and I had to put the guitar in the closet,” he says. “I was either at Fort Benning Georgia training or in Iraq. As the military tour started winding down, I picked up the guitar again in Mosul, Iraq and started writing again and reconnecting with music and how much I love and missed songwriting.”

The video is produced by Archer Malmo’s John Markham and directed by Bart Shannon. The editor is Music Video Monday alum Andrew Trent Fleming.
