Few things bring people together for a good cause like beer. And the folks at the Church Health Center (CHC) know that.
That’s why they’re hosting their first crowd-funding campaign selection event, Progress On Tap, at Memphis Made Brewing Company’s not-yet-open-to-the-public taproom.
On Monday, November 10th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., supporters of the Church Health Center’s mission — offering medical services to the uninsured — will gather for a sneak peek at the new taproom and a chance to vote on which project the CHC should make the focus of a new crowd-funding campaign set to launch on December 2nd.

Beer for a good cause
“People want to know what they can do to help. Just saying ‘we need your support’ doesn’t work for a lot of people,” says CHC Spokesperson Jeff Hulett. “People want to know exactly what they can do to help us do our job better. So we came up with Progress On Tap, where people have three choices they can vote on for what they want to crowd-fund.”
The three projects include curriculum and resources for the CHC’s Perea pre-school in North Memphis, new equipment for the CHC’s Wellness Center, or funding for their Operation Crosstown initiative, which takes on beautification projects around the CHC’s future home in the Sears Crosstown building.
The event is free, and the first 100 guests will receive a free beer. Memphis Made will also have beer for sale. The first vote is also free, but those who wish to vote more than once can do so for a donation to the CHC. Guests must pre-register on Eventbrite.
