Grizzlies President Andy Dolich Resigns

Andy Dolich, President of Business Operations of the Grizzlies has announced his resignation effective December 31, 2007. Dolich has been responsible for the overall day to day functioning of the business and marketing side of the Grizzlies and FedExForum. He was appointed to the position by team owner Michael Heisley in May of 2000.

“It was an honor to work for the Grizzlies organization and I am grateful for the incredible resources provided to our staff by Michael Heisley and our local owners,” said Dolich. “Ownership is doing everything in their power to build a successful community invested professional basketball franchise for all Memphians. FedExForum is a national jewel of a sports and entertainment facility that this community should be justifiably proud of.

“I was blessed to work with a team of wonderful professionals who everyday in every way strive to improve the Grizzlies organization and the fan experience at FedExForum. I have never had a group of corporate partners and loyal fans more supportive of the ultimate goal of being a champion both on the court and in the community.”

No reason was given for Dolich’s resignation. Read more at the Grizzlies website.

Trent Lott to Resign; Wonkette Starts Reckless Speculation

Wonkette.com, the irreverent political blog based in Washingon, D.C., has offered its usual cheeky spin on the news of Mississippi senator Trent Lott’s forthcoming resignation.

Among the possible reasons offered by Wonkette:

“Trent finally had enough of Mitch McConnell trying to play footsie under the table at leadership meetings.”

“The other Senators kept making fun of his and his wife’s matchy names: ‘Trish-Trent! Trish-Trent!'”

“He didn’t want to be the last racist left in the Senate, and Byrd was looking damn old …”

Read ’em all at Wonkette.com.

By the way, Lott says his resignation has nothing to do with those pesky anti-lobbying restrictions on former congressmen that take effect next year. Just so you know.
