Sly’s South Main Burger at the Green Beetle

I just had the most amazing burger at The Green Beetle and I need to tell you about it. It’s called the Sly’s South Main Burger ($12), and it’s larger than your head! The burger has hash browns that are cooked inside the patty. Then on top of it there’s bacon, cheddar cheese, and an egg cooked to order — all on a sourdough bun. I got my eggs scrambled.

The patty itself is juicy and full of flavor. I loved the hearty consistency and feel of the hash browns mixed with the juiciness of the patty. The bacon is soft and sweet, not crunchy like you would expect it to be. I loved that the bacon was cooked this way, especially because it made it much easier to eat. The cheddar cheese was perfectly melted and the scrambled eggs were hot, creamy and smooth. It warmed my tummy! I didn’t see onions in the description but they were on my burger and they were crispy and almost seemed caramelized. The sourdough bun to top everything off was nicely toasted and sweet. This amazing burger was messy to eat but I didn’t care, I dug right in. The French fries were well seasoned and just as great.

I must warn you… the burger is huge. It will be a challenge to eat the entire thing in one sitting because it’s so filling. I couldn’t finish it. I’m not complaining though, because that just meant I had leftovers for the following day. Two meals for the price of one? I’m down.
