Yo Gotti Was Born a Hustler

Since jumping into the rap game more than a decade ago, Yo Gotti has glamorized his prowess for hustling. “Born Hustler,” a mini-documentary presented by Epic Records and journalist Elliott Wilson, sheds light on where Gotti’s unwavering grind derives from.

The visual takes viewers through the streets of Memphis, the homes of Gotti’s relatives and his restaurant Prive’. The Billboard-charting artist opens up about hailing from a family of hustlers. He also reveals his reasoning for trading in the streets for rap and entrepreneurship.

During the documentary, Gotti’s mom and two aunts reflect on their introduction to hustling, how it changed their lives, and the impact it had on Gotti. And the rapper’s brother and childhood friend both share how their lives have changed due to his success.

Check out the mini-documentary below. And grab Gotti’s latest album The Art of Hustle

Yo Gotti No Longer Writes Lyrics Before Recording

Yo Gotti is slated to release his highly-anticipated album, The Art of Hustle, pretty soon. And he recently announced his forthcoming mixtape, Concealed, which will serve as an appetizer to the effort.

With two projects on the way, along with an extensive amount of content already out, one could assume a large portion of Gotti’s day is consumed with writing music. But evidently it’s not.

During a recent interview with VladTV, Gotti revealed he no longer writes lyrics down before recording. This is an approach also used by revered lyricists like Jadakiss, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and the late Notorious B.I.G.

Gotti explained by entering the booth without pre-written verses, he’s able to deliver more emotion and convey himself more effectively in songs.

Yo Gotti continues to dish out new music to keep fans satisfied until his The Art of Hustle album drops.

In August, he released the project’s debut single “Errrbody,” and dropped a remix to the smash earlier this month, which features fellow Southern spitters Lil Wayne and Ludacris.

Now Gotti’s connected with Louisiana lyricist Lil Boosie for his latest banger “I Feel Like.” The track is also slated to appear on The Art of Hustle, which Gotti said would drop later this year or first quarter of 2015 in a recent XXL interview.
