Music Video Monday: Toy Trucks

In Music Video Monday, hit song hits on you!

I probably shouldn’t be springing a Russian Reversal on you so early in the work week. But the character played by Taylor Barrett Moore in “Don’t Be So Easy” would really like to know what a girl like you is doing in a place like this.

Director Tony Manard’s video for Toy Trucks’ first garage rock blast from their Black and Wyatt Records release Rocket Bells and Poetry features Moore hitting on all the women in sight. Yeah, you know the type. Even a psychedelicized shirt can’t save this guy’s game. Take a look:

Music Video Monday: Tony Manard

It’s a Music Video Monday smackdown!

It got real when director Libby Brawley created this video for Tony Manard’s song “Mississippi (Why You Gotta Be So Mean?)”

“We shot this at my folks place—that’s them at the end in the convertible,” says Manard. “I put the word out on Facebook to my friends to create the most bizarre character they could come up with and bring water guns to the family compound in the red clay hills of Northeast Mississippi. I bought hamburgers and hotdogs to grill, built some water balloon cannons and let the chaos unfold. Jada Brisentine-Smith (aka Scary Poppins) actually broke her leg on that jump. Despite the appearance of conflict, Shark and Panda are happily married. So two televisions, and one watermelon were shot, one leg was broken, along with several thousand bug bites and about 2 ponds of dirt in my boots. It was a fine day in the country.”

Tony Manard’s third album KnowWhy is available right now on his website. Come get some of this brutal music video action:

Music Video Monday: Tony Maynard

Today’s Music Video Monday hits the road.

As many of us prepare to go to grandma’s house for Thanksgiving, the video for Tony Maynard’s melancholy new song “Makes Us Blue” is all about the highs and lows of travel. “It’s about missing home,” says Maynard, who directed the video. “But also missing the road when you’re there. Its primarily iPhone footage from a train trip to Chicago and a road trip to Austin. There are also still images meant to appear as reflecting off the train window from my family, friends and folks I have traveled with or met on the road. The song is an original recorded by Harry Koniditsiotis and was recorded at his studio 5 and Dime. Tony Manard (Me) on guitar and vocals, my son Vincent on bass and electric piano, Joe Hopkins on 12 string guitar and the prolific Stephen Chopek on drums.”
